The Central Flyway is one of the great migration corridors of the Americas, a bird superhighway stretching from the grasslands of South America to the northern territories of Canada. As it crosses the United States, this route runs through the heart of the Great Plains, making Nebraska, at its center, one of the most exciting and rewarding birding destinations on the continent.

We are Gabriel and Jennifer Rivera, Omaha-based wildlife photographers and naturalists. Gabriel is a biology professor at Creighton University and Jennifer works as a therapist, and between those two worlds, we bring a deep curiosity about both the science of birds and the human experience of encountering them in nature. Birds have become a central part of our lives, not just as subjects to photograph, but as a gateway to understanding the natural world more deeply. At the heart of what we do is a desire to use our images to educate and excite people about birds. We believe that a great photograph can stop someone in their tracks, spark a question, and open a door to a lifelong appreciation of nature. That desire to share what we've found has led us to take our images on the road, presenting illustrated talks to bird clubs, nature centers, and community organizations across Nebraska and beyond.

When we're behind the camera, we're not just looking for a beautiful shot. We're watching behavior, reading character, and trying to capture something true about the bird in front of us. We hope that when you see our images, you see birds in a way you haven't before, and that what you see makes you want to look more closely at the natural world around you.

And ultimately, we hope that by introducing people to the remarkable world of birds, we create more people who care, who are moved to lend a hand to these creatures that share our skies, our backyards, and our planet.
